Our Commitment to Quality: The Crosby Intruder Alarms Product Selection Process

At Crosby Intruder Alarms, we understand that the heart of a reliable security system lies in the quality of its components. It’s not just about having the latest technology; it’s about having technology you can trust. In this blog post, we’ll take you behind the scenes of our meticulous product selection process, showcasing our unwavering commitment to quality and reliability.

Our Testing Process: Rigorous and Thorough Before any product makes it into our preferred products catalogue, it undergoes extensive testing in our own workshops. This isn’t a mere formality; it’s a crucial step in ensuring that every component we use meets our high standards. Our team of experts scrutinises each product, testing for performance, durability, and reliability under various conditions. Only those that pass this rigorous testing phase are considered for our clients.

The Six-Month Rule: Why Patience Pays Off In an industry where manufacturers are constantly racing to launch new products, we take a different approach. We believe in the power of patience. By policy, we do not use any product that hasn’t been on open sale for at least six months. This period allows us to observe real-world performance and ensures that any initial bugs or issues are identified and rectified.

Letting Others Lead the Way Our six-month rule might seem cautious, but it’s a strategy that has served us and our clients well. In the rush to bring new products to market, it’s inevitable that some may not be thoroughly tested. By waiting, we allow other less cautious companies to discover any potential flaws. This approach might delay our adoption of the latest gadgets, but it guarantees that when we do choose a product, it’s one that won’t let you down.

Active Participation in Product Development Our commitment to quality doesn’t stop at testing finished products. We actively engage with manufacturers, participating in field trials of new products. This involvement gives us a unique insight into the development process, allowing us to influence product design and functionality. Our feedback helps shape products that not only meet industry standards but exceed them.

Conclusion: At Crosby Intruder Alarms, your safety is our top priority. Our careful product selection process is a testament to our commitment to providing you with a security system that you can trust, day in and day out. In a world where new products are constantly emerging, we stand firm in our belief that quality should never be compromised for the sake of novelty. Trust us to protect what matters most to you with systems that are tried, tested, and true.

Closing Thought: Remember, in the realm of security, the best offense is a good defense. Our approach to product selection ensures that your defense is the best it can be.

Crosby Intruder Alarms: A 40-Year Journey of Innovation and Trust

social-40

In the heart of Merseyside, a story of resilience, innovation, and commitment began in the early 1980s. Crosby Intruder Alarms, established on 2nd January 1984, has transformed from a humble start-up into a leading name in the UK’s security alarm industry. This blog post is the first of a series covering the early years of the inspiring journey of Crosby Intruder Alarms, celebrating 40 years of excellence and trust.

The Birth of an Idea

The inception of Crosby Intruder Alarms is a tale of opportunity born from uncertainty. When Roy Williams & a colleague, two skilled television engineers, learned about the impending closure of their workplace, they faced a crossroads. The television industry was evolving rapidly, with products becoming more reliable and rental companies feeling the pinch. It was a time for change, a time for a new direction.

Their colleague’s transition to a security control panel manufacturer planted the seed for what would become Crosby Intruder Alarms. Recognising the potential in the security alarm sector, Roy decided to establish their own company, a decision that would mark the beginning of an incredible journey.

Commitment to Quality

Through meticulous market research, Roy identified two distinct segments in the security alarm industry: the budget, non-British Standard compliant systems, and the high-quality, custom-designed systems. Their commitment to excellence was unwavering, leading them to focus on the latter. They vowed to provide only top-notch systems that met the rigorous standards of BS4737, ensuring maximum protection and quality.

Growing Steadily

The early years were a balancing act for Roy. While maintaining his day job in the television industry, he devoted his evenings and weekends to building Crosby Intruder Alarms. His dedication paid off, as he slowly but steadily amassed a loyal customer base. Their focus on quality installations earned them not only repeat business but also the trust and recommendations of their clients.

Expanding Horizons

From its humble beginnings, Crosby Intruder Alarms has grown beyond Merseyside, spreading its services across the UK. The company stands today as a testament to quality and reliability, offering comprehensive installation and backup services nationwide. By only utilising the finest products and maintaining the highest installation standards, Crosby Intruder Alarms has become a trusted name in home and business security.

Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence

As we celebrate 40 years since its inception, Crosby Intruder Alarms continues to evolve, embracing new technologies and trends in the security industry. The company’s journey is a remarkable example of how vision, quality, and customer trust can build a lasting legacy. It’s not just about securing premises; it’s about building a safer community, one alarm at a time.

Crosby Intruder Alarms’ 40-year history is more than just a timeline of business growth; it’s a narrative of adapting to change, prioritising customer safety, and unwavering commitment to quality. As we look back on these four decades, we also look forward to the future, where Crosby Intruder Alarms will continue to innovate and protect under the ownership of Roy’s wife Ann and son Gareth, staying true to the vision set forth by Roy  on that pivotal day in January 1984.

Roy Williams Tribute 2020

Roy Williams Tribute

Tribute

It is with a deep heart that we have to announce the passing of one of the company partners, Roy Williams who sadly lost his battle to COVID-19 on 17th April 2020.

Roy started off Crosby Intruder Alarms back in 1984, the business started off as a bit of a hobby for him, carrying out work at evenings and weekends whilst still in full time employment. He worked tirelessly along with his wife Ann to build the business up and get it more established over the years. In 2009 his son Gareth came into the business and assisted Roy & Ann in growing the company to where we currently are today.

Roy was an asset to the Security Industry. He taught the majority of apprentices from other security companies and trained them up to become really good Technicians, some now holding senior management positions for local and national companies. Roy taught at North West Training Council for over 20 years as well as teaching for Skills for Security & Tavcom Training. Roy also had his own training company (Security Industry Training Association) and along with Martin Kane trained many apprentices on a national basis. He wanted the best out of people and helping others was what he did best.

Roy was a true family man, he leaves behind his wife Ann who he worked alongside for many years, his son Gareth who he worked with (trust me it wasn’t easy at times, but we always put our differences aside), his daughter Lyndsay and her husband Mike. He recently welcomed his first Granddaughter Grace into the family on 28th March 2020 who he unfortunately never got to meet in person but was able to see photos of her and we had a video call together, he was so proud of both Gareth & Lauren for bringing such a beautiful girl into the world. He also was lucky to walk Lyndsay down the aisle in May 2019, when she married her husband Mike. Roy was so proud of Lyndsay and it was a day that will never be forgotten by many. Also, in February 2020 he was able to celebrate Gareth’s 30th birthday party which was a joint celebration with Roy’s Niece Emily who was also 30. At this party many family and friends joined us, little did we know this would be the last party he would be at with us all. As a family we shared many happy memories, a lot of them spent up at Loch Lomond in Scotland, where Roy enjoyed going there to relax. We have memories of Picnics on the beach, days out in the boats, road trips and making many friends who will truly miss Roy.

His family meant the world to him and he would always put them before himself, even if it was the wrong thing to do, he was very stubborn at times! – Grace will always know what an amazing Grandad he would have been to her. Roy also leaves behind his family in America, Colin, Patricia, Cerys & Ceridwen along with all the family on Ann’s side (there is far too many to name!) and leaves behind many friends, colleagues and business associates. He will be truly missed by so many people.

The family would like to thank the Paramedics who attended the house on 4th April and all of the NHS Staff at Aintree Hospital. They did everything they could for him and gave him the best care possible to try and achieve the best chance of survival, unfortunately his body was not strong enough to fight it, although he did the best he could.

The Business will still continue to trade as normal as we have excellent staff who are holding it all together. During the week of 20th April, Gareth & Ann may be uncontactable but we have a great team working from home who will be able to answer your calls as we continue to trade and supply you with your fire and security needs.

Roy now joins his parents and our former Operations Manager Peter Grossmith who we sadly lost a few years ago.

We would just like to say a big thank you to all of our staff, friends, family and customers through what has been a difficult time for us all and everyone around the world.

Rest in Peace Roy (Dad) – 3rd February 1957 – 17th April 2020.

Please feel free to leave any comments or memories below.

We have decided to setup a Just Giving Page in memory of Roy to raise money for Aintree Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Any donations will be greatly appreciated. – The link is https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/roymwilliams

Peter Grossmith

Peter Grossmith

Peter Grossmith1958-2017

Peter started to work for Crosby Intruder Alarms in the late eighties and in the time since then, he became an integral part of our operation.

Over that period became much more than simply a work colleague, he became a trusted and valued friend that both Ann and I had complete trust in. So much so that we were happy to leave him to run the business during holidays etc. We argued on a number of occasions because he was forthright with his comments and was not scared to disagree if he thought that we were wrong, a trait that I really appreciated at times, but it was always in the best interests of the company.

Peter had an exceptional memory and all you had to do was mention a client’s name and he could give you virtually every detail about the installation, panel type, detector locations and even an approximate date that the system was installed. His technical knowledge was second to none and what he didn’t know, he found out about.

He had a wicked sense of humour and we often were on the receiving end of his jokes, but in all honesty, he could take a joke as well. I remember a conversation that I had with one long standing customer who said that they missed Peter coming in to see them because he “gave them hell” and the conversation was finished by her saying “and we gave it him back”. We all miss that as well.

Typically, when he was diagnosed with cancer he said that he was going to fight it and he certainly did. He re-organised his life and did the things that he wanted to do, culminating in a session gliding, towards the end of last year. He said that it was fantastic and didn’t know how he could top that. I suggested a parachute jump, but he said that it wasn’t exciting enough, so I said that if he wanted excitement, he should let me pack the chute, he declined my offer!

We all regularly went out for meals (see photos) and Peter was always the life and soul of the party, even though he was obviously in a great deal of pain.

Peter was a foundation stone of our company in every sense of the word and our company could not have developed in the way we have without his input, drive and devotion to us and our clients, we all miss him deeply.

Supporting the Plaza

Crosby Intruder Alarms have supported the Plaza Community Cinema in the Waterloo area for many years.

It’s always nice to be appreciated!

We at the Plaza would like to thank Crosby Intruder Alarms for all their support past and present. Recently they have upgraded our Fire Alarm system in the Plaza and the CCTV in both the Plaza and the Plaza Support Shop making both the Plaza and the shop safer for staff and customers.
Over the past 20 years they have supported the Plaza giving time and equipment freely. We would like to thank Roy, Ann and Gareth Williams and all their staff for being a true community spirited company. Highly recommended.
Please share to as many as possible and give them a round of applause.
Many thanks
